This beautiful bust is a detail of the roman marble "Daughter of Niobe running" housed at the Uffizi Gallery, Florence. The sculpture is part of a bigger group of figures that used to decorate Villa Medici Gardens in Rome. In accordance with the myth, the whole scene shows the moment when Niobe's children were killed by Apollo and Artemis.
The young girl is running to escape the arrows of the Gods when she is wounded in the back, which causes the twisting of the body and the intensity of her face.
